Nursing student sits with patient

Global Initiative Endowment

Global mission trips enable BSN students to gain important clinical experience, cultural competency skills, and a unique understanding of the needs of poor rural patients without access to health care. With ongoing projects in India and Ghana and tremendous interest from students and faculty for annual trips, we seek to build an endowment to fund student and faculty travel, room and board, and medical supplies to screen and treat underserved patients who are at risk for or suffering from acute and chronic conditions. Furthermore, with an increasingly diverse patient population in the U.S., global initiatives impart in nursing students the necessary cultural competency skills to provide excellent care both domestically and internationally. A $500,000 endowment will provide an estimated annual payout of $22,500 to help support travel and the necessary resources for six students annually. Additional funding will enable the College to provide similar student experiential leaning into additional countries.
