Nursing

Partners in HealthCare was established by the MUSC College of Nursing as an interprofessional, free clinic to provide health care to uninsured patients in collaboration with East Cooper Community Outreach (ECCO). Nurse practitioners along with faculty colleagues in the MUSC Colleges of Medicine and Pharmacy provide primary care services to adults with a focus on chronic disease management (hypertension and diabetes) that utilizes telehealth for patient, provider and student education and clinical consultation. ECCO is a valuable partner who addresses the social determinants of health by providing emergency financial assistance, prescription medication assistance, behavioral health counseling, free dental care, healthy eating and wellness classes, and job training. Together, we are addressing barriers to care that impact the physical health of individuals and the fiscal health of our community. ECCO has offered additional clinic space to expand availability of appointments, increasing access to care to reduce emergency room visits and hospital stays for this uninsured population.

East Cooper Community Outreach - Helping neighbors help themselves

We seek to raise $200,000 to help cover the cost of providing essential health services to this uninsured population. Contributions will fund direct services for patients and enable us to increase the number of clinical rotations that offer invaluable learning opportunities for MUSC students.
