Changes to University COVID-19 Directives

In keeping with recent COVID-19 updates from the CDC and SC DHEC and to maintain alignment with the MUSC Health system guidelines, the university COVID-19 directives have been updated and posted. There are significant changes in our expectations for what to do if you have been exposed to someone who tested positive for COVID-19 and our protocol for returning to work if you have tested positive for COVID-19. In addition, we have new guidelines for MUSC-sponsored events serving food. It is important that all faculty, staff and students review these updated directives.

We also want to strongly encourage all of you to get vaccinated and, if you are already vaccinated, to get boosted. It is very clear that individuals who are vaccinated and boosted are significantly less likely to be hospitalized due to COVID-19 and will experience less severe symptoms overall.

The surge that is now forecast for South Carolina this January is somewhat alarming in size with unprecedented numbers of positive COVID-19 cases. We are counting on everyone in the MUSC community to work together to reduce transmission and maximize the health and safety of our community.
