2020 Open Enrollment

  • Open Enrollment is October 1st-31st, 2020 with changes taking effect January 1st, 2021.
  • To review your insurance elections and make changes during open enrollment, you will be required to make changes through PEBA’s MyBenefits portal.
  • Through MyBenefits you can update life insurance beneficiaries, personal information and make certain qualifying event changes through this system.

  • If you do not take any action all your current benefits will rollover into 2021 except flexible spending accounts.The IRS requires re-enrollment in Health Savings, Dependent Care Spending and Medical Spending Accounts each year.

  • Be sure to review the 2021 MUSC Summary of Benefits.


  • Add/drop health insurance for yourself and/or dependents.
  • Add/drop vision insurance for yourself and/or dependents.
  • No changes allowed for dental this year, next opportunity to make dental changes will be October 2021 for 1/1/2022 effective date.
  • Enroll in the medical spending and dependent care spending accounts for 2021. You can carry over up to $550 of unused MSA funds into the next plan year.   
  • Enroll in or increase your Optional Life Insurance up to $50,000.
  • Enroll in or increase Optional Life coverage (over $50,000) or Dependent Life-Spouse coverage with medical evidence.
  • Drop or decrease Optional Life and Dependent Life-Spouse coverage.
  • Enroll in or drop Dependent Life-Child coverage.
  • Enroll in or drop Supplemental Long Term Disability (SLTD) coverage without medical evidence.
  • Change your SLTD benefit waiting period from 90 days to180 days or vice versa for existing coverage without medical evidence.
  • Enroll in or drop the Pretax Group InsurancePremium feature.
