Based on requirements of the Affordable Care Act (ACA), a notice for “New Health Insurance Marketplace Coverage Options (PDF)” must be provided to each employee, regardless of plan enrollment status (if applicable) or of part-time or full-time status. Employers are not required to provide a separate notice to dependents or other individuals who are or may become eligible for coverage under the plan but who are not employees.
MUSC is required to provide this notice to all employees no later than October 1, 2013. For new employees hired on or after October 1, 2013, the notice must be provided within 14 days of an employee’s start date.
If you wish to stay enrolled in your current health insurance plan there is no action needed. If you wish to review plans available in the Health Insurance Marketplace, please read the attached notice and contact the University Benefits Office so they may further assist you.
