F-1 Student Status

F-1 visa status is a nonimmigrant visa classification for international students who will come to the United States to study full-time at an academic institution that has been certified by the Student and Exchange Visitor Program (SEVP), U.S. Department of Homeland Security. All F-1 students must be registered in the Student and Exchange Visitor Information System (SEVIS) and possess a valid Form I-20 issued by the academic institution.

The Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) is certified by SEVP to sponsor F-1 students in certain academic programs. Please note that not all academic programs offered by MUSC are eligible to sponsor F-1 students. At MUSC, the Center for Global Health manages the F-1 sponsorship program.

If you are an international student who has been admitted into an academic program at MUSC that is certified to sponsor F-1 students, and you require F-1 sponsorship, then you have come to the right place! The menus on the sidebar of this webpage will provide important information about the F-1 sponsorship process for new students as well as information about maintaining F-1 status for current students.
