Parking Locations & Directions

For the Institute of Psychiatry, Hollings Cancer Center, the Clinical Sciences Building, and the Adult or Pediatric Emergency Rooms, use the Jonathan Lucas Street Garage at 97 Jonathan Lucas Street. The entrance is located at President & Doughty and has a 6'8" clearance.

For the Medical University Hospital, Rutledge Tower, and the Storm Eye Institute, use the Ashley-Rutledge Garage at 158 Ashley Avenue. Entrances are located on Ashley and Rutledge Avenues and have a 6'8" clearance. Patients or visitors with disabilities may use the Rutledge Tower Surface Lot at 135 Rutledge Avenue.

For the James B. Edwards Dental Clinic, use the President Street Garage (E-lot) at 91 President Street. The entrance is located at the corner of Bee and President Streets.

For Ashley River Tower and the Shawn Jenkins Children's Hospital and Pearl Tourville Women's Pavilion, use the McClellan Banks Garage at 21 McClellan Banks Drive. The entrance can be accessed via Bravo Street, Charleston Center Drive, or McClellan Banks Drive from Calhoun Street.

Outpatient Parking

Self-parking for outpatients is $.75 per half hour, up to a maximum of $3 in the Ashley-Rutledge, Jonathan Lucas, or McClennan Banks garage. If parking exceeds two hours, all charges over $3 will be paid by the hospital; but to receive this courtesy the ticket must be validated. Check with reception staff in the area where you receive your care.

Effective January 1, 2023, the valet parking fee will be $12 at the entrances of the Ashley River Tower, (6:00 am to 6:00 pm); the Rutledge Tower (5:30 am to 5:30 pm) and Hollings Cancer Center (7:00 am to 5:30 pm) for patients and families/visitors of patients. Drive your vehicle to the main entrance of any of these buildings for valet service.

The MUSC Health Patient Shuttle system provides a free and convenient way for patients to travel between buildings on our downtown campus.

Inpatient Parking

Inpatients' families and visitors may park for $.75 per half hour. The maximum daily rate (up to 24 hours) is $6. To receive the reduced rate, the visitor should provide the patient's last name and room number to the cashier when exiting the parking facility. The cashier will issue a receipt. This will allow unlimited additional exits during the 24-hour period at no charge.

Mobility-Impaired/Handicapped Parking

All MUSC public parking locations offer accessible parking. For wheelchair assistance, use a courtesy phone near an elevator or call 843-876-0101 (7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Monday thru Friday) from your cell phone. South Carolina State law provides that there is no charge for parking in metered or timed facilities for vehicles which display a handicap plate or placard and which are driven by or transporting the handicapped individual. If the handicapped individual is not in the vehicle, the posted parking rate applies.
