MUSC Presidential Update - August 1, 2021

Dear MUSC family,

It’s official! For those of you outside of the Midlands, I hope you’ll join me in welcoming the newest members to our care team at the facilities now known as our Midlands Division within the MUSC Regional Health Network: MUSC Health Columbia Medical Center Downtown, MUSC Health Columbia Medical Center Northeast, MUSC Health Fairfield Emergency and Imaging and MUSC Health Kershaw Medical Center.

To our new Midlands Division care team members, it’s my honor and privilege to be one of the first people to welcome you officially to our MUSC family. I want to underscore how important you are to the MUSC mission, so please take a moment to watch the below video.

Together

We're pleased to welcome the Midlands communities to our MUSC Family!

A statewide presence is the linchpin to delivering on our mission, and it means that by partnering with you – great local providers and care team members – we can do better for our patients and their families, together. By incorporating education, research and the unique capability and expertise of a statewide academic health sciences center into the Midlands, we believe that the overall health, wellness and economies of the areas in which MUSC has a physical presence will not only improve, they will thrive.

Our values – compassion, respect, innovation, collaboration and integrity – serve as the compass we use to navigate the sometimes uncharted waters of health care transformation. Therefore, the best way to predict our future will be by working together to create it ourselves with these values fueling all that we do.

So again, please accept my heartfelt and sincere welcome to the MUSC family. I’m excited that you’re here and can’t wait to see how YOU will help to change what’s possible for those we serve.

Yours in service,
David J. Cole, M.D., FACS
MUSC President
