Insurance for International Travelers

All registered travelers are covered – at no additional cost to the traveler – under an accident, sickness, and emergency care insurance plan that works in tandem with International SOS.

This insurance acts as primary coverage for all urgent and emergent medical expenses, medical and security evacuation, medical and security repatriation, repatriation of mortal remains, trip interruption, and lost luggage that occurs during international travel.

The plan does not cover routine care such as physical exams, preventive care or routine maternity expenses, surgical second opinions, non-emergency vision or dental expenses, or home health care. In addition, coverage is excluded for non-emergency evacuations.

There is no separate ID card or enrollment. One of the benefits of the insurance coverage is that if an MUSC traveler contacts International SOS to coordinate the care and payment of medical expenses, they will not incur out-of-pocket costs in most cases.
