When did you join MUSC? March 2023

What’s your favorite part about working in global health? Without a doubt, my favorite part is having the opportunity to get to know the students and faculty who are making a positive impact in so many different ways in the global health community, both on campus and in their research and clinical work abroad, and getting to share their stories.

What advice would you give to an international student or faculty member coming to MUSC for the first time? Acclimating to a new city, let alone a new country, always has its challenges. The MUSC campus and the greater Peninsula is a historically beautiful place to live, learn and enjoy life, but don’t forget to visit all of the wonderful outer lying communities around town, including James and Johns islands, Isle of Palms, Sullivan’s Island, etc.

How do you like to spend your free time? My wife and I have three dogs – Aria, Winnie and Wilbur – that keep us fairly busy. Aside from our pups, though, we love visiting the excellent microbrewery scene around Charleston, searching out the latest food truck vendors and attending numerous live music concerts throughout the year.

What is your favorite place to travel? Two very different cities hold this mantle – I love Austin, Texas, as well as Munich, Germany
