Continuing Student Reporting & SEVIS Registration

All F-1 students sponsored by MUSC are required to submit the F-1 Continuing Student Reporting record to the Center for Global Health at the beginning of each academic term (Spring, Summer, and Fall). The report is submitted through your Terra Dotta portal. The purpose of this report is to ensure that you are actively registered for a full course load for the upcoming term so that this information can be reported in the SEVIS system.

F-1 Continuing Student Reporting

The Center for Global Health will send out an email reminder to all MUSC F-1 students at the beginning of each term when it is time to submit the F-1 Continuing Student Reporting record (accessed by clicking this link).

It is very important that you complete this record as soon as possible in order to prevent any issues with your F-1 status. The record form is very short and will only take a few minutes to complete. If you fail to submit the F-1 Continuing Student Reporting record by the required deadline, you may be unable to remain in the United States in F-1 status.

SEVIS Registration

SEVIS is the federal government database that manages all F-1 international students. Center for Global Health staff are responsible for providing certain information in the SEVIS system so that MUSC F-1 students can remain in the United States in valid F-1 status.

SEVIS requires that we provide a registration confirmation for each F-1 student at the beginning of each academic term. Therefore, you submit your F-1 Continuing Student Reporting record, the Center for Global Health will then report your continuing student registration status in the SEVIS system. This process is also known as “SEVIS registration.” The SEVIS registration process is very important in allowing you to remain in the U.S. in valid F-1 status.

As soon as the SEVIS registration process has been completed for you for a specific term, you will see a record on your Terra Dotta User Home Page titled SEVIS Registration. You will see a SEVIS Registration record in Terra Dotta for each term, as long as you complete the F-1 Continuing Student Reporting record and you are an actively enrolled full-time student at MUSC.
