Fitness and Health Programs

Athletes can improve familiarity with elite style training and continue high intensity training styles while gaining knowledge on proper programming.

Athlete Reboot

Athlete Reboot is designed to engage and instruct athletes of all ages who are looking to continue to train at an elite level. This program will promote similar exercises to those introduced either in college, professional, or recreational athletic participation (e.g. agility, weight training, endurance, etc.). 

This program will improve familiarity with the elite style training and allow participants to continue high intensity training styles and improve knowledge on proper programming for specific athletes. A priority will be placed on progressive overload, power, agility, and endurance training.

Each week, participants will have exposure to different types of workout regimens and work together/encourage each other to push their training to the max.

Sessions will take place in multiple areas within the MUSC Wellness Center such as the Functional Training Area, Multi-purpose Gymnasium, and the Weight Room.

The next session of Athlete Reboot is scheduled to start on May 5 and run through June 11. Classes will be held on Mondays and Wednesdays from 6:00pm - 7:00pm.

Women and Weights

Women on Weights

Women and Weights is a small group training program that will help women become comfortable in the weight room. The goal of this program is to educate women who consider themselves to be beginners how to safely and effectively reach their fitness goals. The Program provides participants with a safe, supportive, and educational environment to build strength and physical stamina. 

Women and Weights will utilize aspects of different weight training exercises to increase overall strength while introducing different exercises to train different parts of the body. This class will be open to females who are members, non-members, and students of MUSC.

The next session of Women and Weights is scheduled to start on April 7 and last through April 30. Classes will be held on Mondays and Wednesdays from 8:00am-9:00am.

Women and Weights Phase 2

Women on Weights Phase 2

Women and Weights Phase 2 is a program designed to engage and instruct women of all ages, with some prior weightlifting experience, more complex weightlifting exercises. Phase 2 aims to improve familiarity with the equipment and allows participants to move their training and results to the next level.

A priority will be placed on proper technique and progressive overload. Each week participants will learn new movements and lifts.

This program will introduce participants in partner spotting techniques, coaching tips, and encourage participants to train with partners outside of the Women and Weights Phase 2 sessions.

This class will be open to females who are members, non-members, and students of MUSC who have prior knowledge and experience in weightlifting.

The next session of Women and Weights Phase 2 is scheduled to start on January 15 and run through March 7. Sessions will be held on Wednesdays and Fridays from 8:00 - 9:00 am.

  • Non-Member MUSC Employee: $105.00
  • Non-Member: $120.00
  • MUSC Student*: $50.00

*The first 5 students that register for the nest session will receive a full program subsidy sponsored by the Wellness Center.

FEES FOR SERVICES POLICY:

It takes an extraordinary commitment of our resources to prepare, coordinate, and staff our facilities, programs, services, and classes; therefore, all payments are non-refundable and cannot be prorated.

The following fee for services, classes, and programs are not refundable and not prorated:

  • Locker Rentals
  • Parking Fees
  • Room Rental
  • Guest Fees

Program Fees including small group training, swim lessons, personal training sessions, Pilates, Healthy Charleston Challenge, etc.

MUSC Wellness Center reserves the right to delay or cancel any activity or class due to inclement weather, natural disasters, or extenuating circumstances. Weather make-up sessions may be scheduled, but are not guaranteed. No credits or refunds will be issued for classes not attended. All training sessions and programs must be purchased in advance. Session and program payments are non-refundable. Training sessions cancelled within 24 hours of the scheduled time will be redeemed, and cannot be rescheduled unless the trainer and management provide an exception for special circumstances. Transferring unused personal training sessions to an immediate family member may be allowed at the discretion of the Wellness Center Director.
