Trainer of the Month - Melissa Whiting

Personal Trainer of the Month  

Our Trainer of the Month for July is Melissa Whiting!  

Melissa is originally from Northern Virginia. She moved to Charleston to attend college the College of Charleston in 2012 but wound up staying in the city for several years. While at CofC, she earned her Bachelor of Arts in Arts Management with a concentration in the music industry.  

Having been a dancer her entire life, Melissa grew more and more interested in strength training after doing team workouts with the college’s personal trainers. Upon graduation, while training for professional dance tryouts, she realized that personal training was her true passion and started working toward a career in that field.  

When she’s not training clients, Melissa can be found spending time with her two dogs, Malibu and Kahlua; reading a book on the beach or beside the pool; or even dropping in to a dance class on occasion.

Emily Bell

Emily is a NASM & NETA Certified Personal Trainer. She is also a Girls Gone Strong Certified Pre/Post-Natal Coach, Les Mills Body Pump Instructor, and Precision Nutrition Level 1 Nutrition Coach. She received a B.S. in Exercise Science from the University of Minnesota Duluth. She currently serves as the Wellness Center strength trainer, where her dynamic approach and encouraging style allows her to get the most out of her clients that range from novice lifters to triathletes.

Galen Bennett

Galen Bennett

Galen is a NSCA Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist. He received a B.S. in Kinesiology from Coastal Carolina University. Galen has over 10 years of experience training a wide range of clients from individuals returning from injuries to Junior Olympic athletes. He incorporates different styles of training when designing programs tailored towards his client’s fitness needs and goals and believes in developing a strong trainer-client relationship.

Sarah Grace Brodmann

Sarah Grace is an ACSM Certified Personal Trainer and Certified Rock Steady Boxing Coach. She received a B.S. in Health Science with an emphasis in Human Performance & Fitness Management from Georgia Southern University. Sarah Grace enjoys training clients of all ages with a compassionate approach. She tailors her programs to meet the unique needs of her clients, ensuring they gain strength, mobility, and confidence.

Shelia Dawson

Sheila is a NASM Certified Personal Trainer, Certified Functional Training Specialist, and a Certified Health and Wellness Coach. She received a B.S. in Nutrition Science from the University of New Hampshire. Sheila has more than 20 years of Industry experience and is a life-long fitness and wellness enthusiast and former competitive runner. She excels in corrective exercise, while delivering a creative approach for optimal results.

Deiontre is a NASM Certified Personal Trainer, Performance Enhancement Specialist, and Certified Sports Nutrition Coach. He received a B.S. in Kinesiology from Charleston Southern University. Deiontre strives to help his clients achieve their fitness and wellness goals by designing programs tailored to their specific needs. He is a former college athlete and brings a fun and motivating style to help his clients improve their everyday lives.

Marty Rivers

Marty is a Certified Personal Trainer, WSI Master Swim Coach, and Yoga Instructor. Marty has more than 20 years of experience developing and implementing individualized and group swim lessons and programs for students at all levels. He brings a dynamic and functional approach to training that enables all individuals to meet an exceed their potential by developing their mental and physical stamina and capabilities.

David Ruef

Dave Ruef

Dave is an ACE Certified Personal Trainer, Medical Exercise Specialist, Mature Fitness Training Specialist, and is certified in SCW Pilates Mat. He holds a M.S. in Organizational Psychology. Dave has over 15 years of experience helping a wide variety of clients meet their health and fitness goals. He is also a Certified Behavioral Coaching Specialist and focuses on helping clients with healthy weight management plans, becoming stronger and more mobile.

Jeremiah Spires

Jeremiah Spires

Jeremiah is an AFPA Certified Personal Trainer, Nutritional Advisor, and Sports and Conditioning Coach. Jeremiah is also certified in several Pilates techniques with the Pilates Method Alliance (PMA). He’s also an experienced professional fitness coach, sports conditioning specialist, and has extensive experience working in senior fitness as an advisor.

Chris-Ann Streeter

Chris-Ann Streeter

Chris-Ann is a Certified Personal Trainer with Military Specialist Training and is also certified in Rock Steady Boxing. She received a M.S. in Sports Management from Liberty University. Chris-Ann has over 30 years of experience in group and personal training where she emphasizes proper form, strength, functional training, and compound exercises. Her diverse clientele includes seniors, college athletes, and young adults.
