Dr. Kissoon is an international expert in global pediatric health and sepsis and will be at MUSC on Thursday to speak to pediatric housestaff, and to MUSC students and faculty on "Perspectives on Global Health". Dual trained in both pediatric emergency medicine and critical care, Dr. Kissoon is currently the Vice President for Medical Affairs at the British Columbia Children's Hospital in Vancouver and the Associate Head and Professor of the University of British Columbia Pediatric Critical Care Division. He is the recipient of several teaching awards, has authored over 250 peer-reviewed publications, and has been a visiting professor at over 50 institutions.

One of his passions is international health. He is the President of the World Federation of Pediatric Intensive and Critical Care Societies (WFPICCS) and speaks to audiences all over the world on sepsis and pediatric health care in developing countries. I heard him give a plenary session this year on surviving sepsis in countries with high poverty and infant mortality rates at the Society for Critical Care Medicine's annual conference...he is an excellent speaker!
