MUSC Launches Urban Garden

Center for Global Health
February 17, 2013
A visitor to our beautiful campus

Trees provide shade, gardens and plants promote health and healing. That's why the Medical University of South Carolina decided to create an urban garden on campus to demonstrate the importance of having access to healthy, organic food. Next to the garden will be a small pavillion used for cooking and and other demonstrations. The university also has started preparing the ground for a medicinal garden, which will include healing plants identified in the 1863 book, “Resources of the Southern Fields and Forests,” written by MUSC alumnus F.P. Porcher.
