The MaMi Project: HIV, Nutrition and Anti-retroviral Therapy for Mothers and Infants in Malawi

MUSC Center for Global Health would like to invite you to our Global Health Speaker Series event on Friday, September 12, 2014, at 12:00pm in Storm Eye Institute auditorium (HA 809) with guest lecturer, Margaret Bentley, Ph.D.

Dr. Bentley is the Carla Smith Chamblee Distinguished Professor of Global Nutrition, Associate Dean of Global Health, and Associate Director for the Institute of Global Health & Infectious Disease at the University of North Carolina - Gillings School of Global Public Health.

Dr. Bentley’s research focuses on women and infants’ nutrition, infant and young child feeding, behavioral research on sexually transmitted disease, HIV, and community-based interventions for nutrition and health. She is an expert in both qualitative and quantitative research methods and the application of these for program development and evaluation. Dr. Bentley is currently working on an HIV behavioral intervention prevention trial in Chennai, India; on a community-based intervention to improve child growth and development in Andhra Pradesh, India; and on an intervention to decrease maternal-to-child transmission of HIV during breastfeeding in Malawi.
