Help empower healthy communities across South Carolina on MUSC Day

Maximize your impact through matching gifts and exciting challenges

CHARLESTON, S.C. (Dec. 2, 2024) – On Tuesday, Dec. 3, the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) will host MUSC Day, a statewide, virtual fundraising event that invites alumni, faculty, staff, students, friends and the community to come together in support of MUSC’s lifesaving mission. This online event, held at muscday.org, will coincide with Giving Tuesday, a global movement that encourages people to give back to the causes that matter most to them.

This year’s MUSC Day is especially meaningful as MUSC celebrates its Bicentennial, marking 200 years of transformative health care, research, and education.

As a state-assisted nonprofit institution, about 3% of MUSC’s funding comes from state appropriations. Donations help provide resources needed to fulfill the organization's public mission. Gifts from donors help:

  • Train future doctors, nurses, health professionals and research scientists.
  • Expand patient services and health care outreach throughout South Carolina.
  • Drive innovation and medical breakthroughs that improve lives.
  • and much more.

So far, MUSC alumni, faculty members, board members and donors have generously contributed $45,000 in matches and challenges to create excitement and incentivize participation this year. Each match doubles donations until matching funds are exhausted. Meeting a challenge unlocks additional funding in support of MUSC.

Gifts of all sizes will count toward the 2024 MUSC Day goal of 500 donors. All donations to MUSC go to the MUSC Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that has supported MUSC in its lifesaving mission since 1966.

Donors can support the University or any MUSC Health location statewide from the secure muscday.org site.
