Time Capsule offers future generation opportunity to capture essence of institution's history

A time capsule tells a story. It preserves history. It reminds us of what was important at a given moment. And, as it’s sealed and protected from the elements and Father Time, it awaits a new generation of people who will admire and appreciate its treasured contents yet again.

The coming year offers all who have ever been a part of the Medical University of South Carolina the opportunity to reflect on the incredible journey that has brought us to where we are today. Over the past two centuries, our institution has evolved and played a significant role in shaping the lives of countless individuals and contributing immeasurably to the fields of health care, research and education. 

In the spirit of commemorating this auspicious occasion, our 200th birthday, and preserving this moment in time for generations to come, we are excited to announce the creation of a special Bicentennial Time Capsule – a tangible link between our present and the future, encapsulating the memories, values and aspirations that define MUSC.

For this quest to be truly meaningful and fully representative, we want everyone across the system to have the chance to share their ideas for what should be placed in the time capsule. From Charleston to the Pee Dee and Black River to Indian Land, Camden and Orangeburg, all ideas are valuable and much anticipated.

Some ideas to get you started include technology, tools or equipment, memorable milestones, inspiring messages, photographs, artwork or anything that represents the essence of MUSC’s mission, vision and the work we are doing. Items too large to fit in the time capsule can be represented by a photograph.
