Update on Tools and Web Content for building Coronavirus (COVID-19) Communications

A Message from MUSC Leadership - March 9, 2020

Dear Colleagues,

I write to you in the spirit of teamwork and collegiality as we navigate the current and potential impact of COVID-19 on our collective higher education families. MUSC is in a unique position as an academic health sciences center in SC. We employ infectious disease experts and have been working closely with state and federal entities to  develop resources that you might find useful in addressing COVID-19 on your campuses. In that capacity, we have generated several tools and substantial web content that may be helpful as you continue building out your own university and college-specific communications.

I offer the following resources for you to share or pull from should you find them helpful:

Free MUSC Health Virtual Care Screening for COVID-19

Free secure virtual care to screen individuals for COVID-19 is now available through video visits, phone calls or chats. These are available to anyone in South Carolina who is experiencing COVID-19-like symptoms or believes they have been exposed to the virus. Virtual care will help with infection prevention and control, while also allowing patients to receive care without exposing themselves or others to further sickness in a hospital or clinic setting.

We have developed this additional methodology based on the CDC recommendations to our telehealth platform based on known exposure or travel to affected areas. Anyone in SC can vist MUSC Health virtual care site and get this free screen using the promo code COVID19 when checking out.

COVID-19 Web Content

MUSC has developed two primary landing pages for information based on audiences for infomation related to COVID-19.

Our University COVID-19 Information Page

The university COVID-19 information page is targeted to our university students, faculty and staff. It includes updates from our leadership, current travel policies, FAQs in the areas of travel, personal health, operations, campus resources, as well as links to fluid external resources such as CDC pages and SC DHEC.

Our Clinical COVID-19 Information Page

The clinical COVID-19 information page is targeted to our patients, their families, and visitors to our MUSC clinical enterprise. It includes detailed infomation about accessing screenings through MUSC Health Virtual Care, links to recent articles written by our MUSC news team, infomation about preparing for any additional impact from COVID-19, FAQs related to the virus and links to additional external resources.

As we move through this rapidly-evolving public health event, please know that MUSC stands ready as a partner for you and your university family. If I or any of our experts can be of service to you now or in the future, please don't hesitate to reach out.

Sincerely,

Lisa K. Saladin, PhD, FAPTA
