From the beginning, Patient Transporter Keycharm Cooper made a big impression on everyone – patient, staff or visitor – at MUSC Health Florence Medical Center. For over 20 years his bigger-than-life contagious smile and friendly demeanor have made everyone feel welcome. His passion is his patients, and he sincerely enjoys taking care of them, making sure they get to where they need to go for tests or other procedures. Every day, he comes to work because he loves people and can cheer them up just by being around them. Above all, Keycharm’s infectious spirit of joy, dedication, compassion and service embodies what Black History Month is and has a big influence on what the MUSC community represents.

Maybell Johnson has been a security guard at MUSC Health - Orangeburg for almost four years and enjoys interacting with people and helping whenever she can. Her commitment to assisting others makes her an essential part of the team and a natural choice for this recognition. Johnson’s values of compassion, service and connection to others play a key role in creating a safe and inviting atmosphere for both patients and staff.

Julia Skinner, cafeteria manager at MUSC Health Kershaw, exemplifies the spirit of Black History Month through her unwavering dedication to community impact and service. In her role, she goes beyond providing nourishing meals, offering kindness and warmth to everyone she encounters. Her efforts have created a welcoming environment that uplifts both staff and visitors, fostering a sense of belonging and care. Cora Twitty has been a dedicated team member at MUSC for an incredible 55 years and embodies the spirit of service and commitment that deserves recognition during Black History Month. As a beloved presence in the cafeteria, Cora has not only nourished countless patients, employees and visitors but has also fostered a sense of community through her kindness and unwavering dedication. Her decades-long career reflects an extraordinary work ethic and a deep passion for supporting others, making her an inspiring example of perseverance and care. Cora's impact on the MUSC community is a testament to the power of service and her enduring legacy of making everyone feel valued and supported.

 

Tanisha Washington

 

Tanisha Washington
For nearly a decade, Tanisha Washington has been a cornerstone of the MUSC Health Fairfield Emergency and Imaging team. Since the location opened in 2018, she has played a pivotal role in delivering exceptional patient care. As the patient access team lead, Tanisha’s dedication ensures a seamless experience for patients, from registration to care coordination. Her work is a labor of love—not only for the patients she serves but also for her fellow care team members and the Fairfield community. Her compassion, leadership, and commitment to excellence make a lasting impact every day. We are proud to recognize Tanisha as part of our Black History Month celebration, honoring her contributions to health care and her unwavering dedication to those around her

 

Daniel Williams

 

Daniel Williams
Daniel Williams, operations manager at MUSC Health, is a standout leader whose dedication to mentorship, community building and patient care makes him an exemplary figure for Black History Month. By fostering a supportive atmosphere in Patient Transport, Daniel has helped around 15 CTMs transition into patient-facing roles like PCTs, anesthesia techs, and surgical techs. His proactive relationship-building with clinical staff, frontline CTMs and ancillary teams has created a culture of collaboration and respect. Known for his compassion and hands-on leadership, Daniel consistently goes above and beyond to assist patients and colleagues. His efforts to improve operations and solve problems have earned him high praise from nursing staff and peers, highlighting the importance of representation and servant leadership.

 

Jonathan Young

 

Jonathan Young
Jonathan Young has made significant contributions to the MUSC community through his leadership at the Shawn Jenkins Children’s Hospital. Named by his peers as “one of the best hires the team has made,” Jonathan has stepped in as the first operations manager, going outside of his scope often to help with whatever is needed on campus. At times, he will give tours to potential patients or board members to show the impressive features of SJCH, while at other times, he will support EVS and FANS to ensure that patients have the best experience possible.
