DisAbility Advocacy Group

The Alliance for DisAbility Advocacy Group was created by Matthew Robert, who at the time was diagnosed with Ehlers-Danlos syndrome in his first year of medical school at MUSC. After his diagnosis, Roberts became a staunch advocate and supporter of other individuals with varying levels of disability.

The Alliance for DisAbility Advocacy is a student-run group that is designed to have organized meaningful discussions around disability and related subjects. Topics of discussion may include, but are not limited to, legal rights that exist for individuals with varying levels of disability, what types of accommodations exist, and how to determine where you are able to request these accommodations. Members of this group are also able to share firsthand personal experiences that gives other members valuable insight on how students with disabilities are successfully able to navigate medical school.

If you are interested in becoming a member of this group, please log into Engage, the student organization platform, to see upcoming events and contact information.
