Training & Intercultural Education

The Office of Training and Intercultural Education is committed to enhancing diversity and inclusion education and professional development to ensure every member of the MUSC community develops an appreciation for the richness that our diversity brings and demonstrates a commitment to our culture of inclusion.

Beginning in 2021, a diversity, equity and inclusion mandatory training requirement of 4 hours was approved by the President’s Council. Visit Frequently Asked Questions for more information.  

If you are hosting or organizing a program/training with DEI objectives or outcomes and would like to request D&I credit for attendees, please complete the Internal DEI Program/Training Credit Consideration Form.  Requests must be submitted at least 14 days in advance.  

If you have attended a program with DEI objectives or outcomes and would like to request D&I credit, please complete the External DEI Professional Development Consideration Form. Requests must be submitted by June 30, 2023.

The Director of Training and Intercultural Education is charged with the

  • Development and implementation of a core curriculum on diversity and inclusion for every member of the MUSC community
  • Creation and optimization of enterprise-wide educational diversity and inclusion opportunities
  • Advancing educational strategies to equip leaders with the ability to manage, support, and foster a culture of appreciating diversity and practicing inclusion.

Also includes planning, developing, coordinating, implementing, managing and assessing intercultural education and training initiatives.

The Office of Training and Intercultural Education serves as a resource for students, faculty and staff in the planning and implementation of programs that enhance intercultural and interprofessional awareness and dialogue.
